The stage version of “Spirited Away” now has a cast for its international tour. Kanna Hashimoto, Mone Kamishiraishi and Momoko Fukuchi will once again bring Chihiro to life, a role all three played in the production's previous runs in Japan.

The tour will open at the National Theater in Taipei, running from December 16, 2026, to January 31, 2027. It will then play Tokyo between March and May 2027, Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre in the spring and summer, and the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in the fall. The last announced stop is the London Coliseum, starting in March 2028.

The production is directed by John Caird, known for his work on “Les Misérables,” who also co-wrote the adaptation with Maoko Imai. The play premiered in 2022 at Tokyo's Imperial Theatre and ran at the London Coliseum from April to August 2024. That London run earned it the award for best new play at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards.

Studio Ghibli's original film remains one of the most beloved works of Japanese animation and was the first non-English-language film to win the Oscar for best animated feature.
