“Shōgun,” FX's adaptation of James Clavell's novel, was the big winner at the 2024 Emmys. Counting both the technical awards and those from the main ceremony, it set the record for the most wins for a single season of a series.

Highlights include Outstanding Drama Series, along with acting awards for Hiroyuki Sanada as lead actor and Anna Sawai as lead actress in a drama series.

One of the keys to the show's success is its commitment to authenticity: much of the dialogue is in Japanese, and the team worked with advisers specializing in the period and its customs.

In addition to starring, Sanada also served as a producer on the series.
