Masashi Kishimoto has a new “Naruto” manga on the way. The announcement came during the “NARUTO: What's Next?” panel at New York Comic Con, where it was confirmed that the creator will launch a new series in the franchise.

A video shown during the panel revealed the title, “Naruto Shadow Rising,” which the series' official Japanese account later confirmed. The rest of the details are being saved for Jump Festa '27, which takes place December 19 and 20.

Kishimoto serialized “Naruto” in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2014. The series spawned the anime “Naruto” and “Naruto Shippuden,” several films, novels and video games, and the sequel “Boruto,” first written by Ukyo Kodachi and drawn by Mikio Ikemoto.

Kishimoto had never fully stepped away from the series: since 2020 he has been the writer of “Boruto,” which has continued since 2023 under the title “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.”
