“Astro Bot” was named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024. The PlayStation 5 exclusive was released in September 2024 and is developed by Team Asobi, a Sony Interactive Entertainment studio based in Tokyo.

In addition to the top prize, the game picked up other awards on the same night, including Best Game Direction.

The game is a 3D platformer starring a small robot who has to rescue his crew. One of its big draws is the huge number of nods to PlayStation history scattered throughout its levels.

The win is especially meaningful for platformers, a genre that rarely takes home the top prize at ceremonies like this one.
